Level 3 ASP

WIDECOM engineers are accredited to design for the installation of both overhead and underground network assets, including substations/kiosks. We are able to undertake the design of contestable work* on behalf of the client for the augmentation of the supply authority network in Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy network areas. Contestable designs involve Design (Level 3 ASP) and construction (Level 1 ASP) of:

  • New or upgraded connection to the supply authority network, or
  • Asset relocation works requested and funded by the developer. Level 1 ASP needs to be selected to implement Level 3 ASP design.
  • Level 3 ASP can carry out project management on behalf of the client and do the following non-exhaustive list:
  • Lodge applications for new connections on behalf of the customer, including maximum demand assessment
  • Prepare Environmental Impact Assessment and carry out community consultation
  • Earth resistance testing
  • Private installation cable and equipment specifications, including protection and fault current calculations
  • Obtaining certified network plans that can be used by the customer to obtain quotations for the installation works from Level 1 Accredited Service Providers
  • Prepare network plans as per the supply authorities standards
  • Specify equipment required to meet the supply authorities requirements

The services that can be provided by a Level 3 ASP consist of designing distribution works on, or intended for connection to the networks operated by the electricity distributors. A Level 3 Accredited Service Provider (ASP) is responsible for designing and documenting the requirements for contestable services in accordance with design information, standards and specifications prepared by the local electricity distributor, as well as all applicable laws and regulations concerning the protection of the environment, amongst other matters. There are two categories of Level 3 ASPs:

1) Underground designer and
2) Overhead designer.

SYSTEMS ENEGINEERING - systems design, test and integration

WIDECOM has provided Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, and Risk Management services and CMMI advice to the Australian Defence Organisation, and defence companies.
